285 UST Students Celebrates with National Children’s Hospital

There is always something touching when we make a child battling with cancer smile and laugh. There is always something moving when we see a sick kid’s face light up- just because of something we said, or of a game we played with them, or of a hug that we gave. It is always a memorable experience when we share our efforts, time, and love to these kids and their families, who courageously beat this dreaded disease day by day.

Last January 26, our team from U! Happy Events was once again given the opportunity to spend time with the kids from the National Children’s Hospital pediatric cancer ward. Thanks to a group of college students from UST, led by Ate Arisa Resquer. Together with her friends, they were able to generously pool their funds together to provide the kids a morning of pure fun. It was three hours full of magic show, story telling, puzzle games, eating, and gift giving.

Some of the kids were even called to participate during the magic show. Here, we saw the kids’ happiness and delight as they took part in making something enchanting. We, the volunteers, were fascinated as well.

As the event came to a close, the volunteers were encouraged by Kuya Harvard to share stories with the kids and their guardians. They were also invited to Pray for healing for the kids as well. At the end of the day, we realized that aside from our gifts and presence, the best present we can offer to these kids is to share God’s comforting love and grace with them.
