100 girls from various communities were chosen to participate in a 2-day all-girls sports camp last September 23-24, 2017 at Unilab Bayanihan Center. 30 young girls from our partner beneficiary, Little Lights Ministry were privileged to be invited to this active and fun-filled event.
Event was organized by Girls Got Game PH (GGG), a non-profit organization that empowers young Filipinas through sports. GGG camp did not only teach these girls various sports but also the importance of values such as discipline, teamwork, trust, and respect. Values which are not just applicable in the field but in real life as well.
On day one, girls learned to play volleyball and basketball with the help of their lovely coaches. Then, they were trained to play football and rugby on the second day.
After each training, girls were given a chance to showcase what they have learned during playoffs. Everyone cheered loudly for their respective teams.
Coaches also played friendly matches for each sport to show the girls the value of sportsmanship. Overall, win or lose, what important is an athlete played a good game.
Medals were awarded to winning teams and certificates were handed out to all participants at the end of each day.
During the camp, MVP speakers also shared their stories and experiences with sports. They even talked about their journey on how it brought them to where they are today. GGG speakers, coaches, and volunteers were truly inspiring role models to these young girls.
Girls Got Game PH sports camp was a such great venue to help girls build confidence in sports and boost their
aspirations to become future champions.
