507 SGS Gulf Limited's Magic Workshop with Operation Blessing

Written by Kuya Harvard
It was our fourth partnership with the SGS group in providing workshops to children. We are fortunate to have created a great impression from our first event and have established a string of events already. We are currently strengthening Corporate Social Responsibility among companies as they are more equipped to fund programs and provide their employees an opportunity to interact and learn with children.
Magic workshop is an interesting way to boost a child’s confidence as he or she is encouraged to perform the trick in front of family, friends and even strangers. Our resident and long time magician partner, Kuya Koby Avaricio took the time to share some of the secrets of the trade to fully enhance one’s performance. We provided 2 magic props that can perform 3 different kinds of tricks.
Besides the workshop, we started with getting to know the children from Operation Blessing’s partner Youth Link and had an entertaining Magic Show. Since a happy event wouldn’t be complete without a game, I also took the time to get everyone compete with one another. Through the use of cones, I coined a new game, Cone Me If You Can. The goal was to solve a mathematical equation first and then the answer is shown by how many cones are raised up.
Our wonderful afternoon came to an end with merienda, school supplies giving and a big group photo. We also had our customary hugs of the children to the volunteers that wrapped up a powerful experience to all parties.
