85 Scholar Kids Donation 4 with Balara Elementary School

Written by Kuya Harvard

Scholar Kids mission seems to be working more than we expected to, says Malu Cortez, ex-officio of partner, Zonta Metro Ortigas Foundation. The students have increased their grades and seemingly have better relationships with their moms, adds Malu.

This is our 5th meeting with the students and we have seen them grow since last October’s launching. We met the mothers 6 times when we incorporated a livelihood project for them to enhance further opportunities.

The Zonta Club of Balara High School went and contributed a bigger role. Their officers spoke to the younger students. Their president gave advise specifically on what to expect in high school and that they should be ready very soon. Ready was appropriate as their graduation was set for next month.

95% of the students were able to receive their monthly stipend of 400 pesos on the 4th month. only 5% did not qualify due to their grades getting slightly lower from the previous grading system.

See U! on the last and 5th donation on March 25, 2011! 🙂
