1087 Mary’s Orchard Learning Center Celebrates with Nayon ng Kabataan

Seeing others volunteer and give their precious time and effort to people whom they do not know has always been a significant fuel for us to do what we do, in the belief that purpose is found in contributing to something bigger than ourselves, and with the mission to share this sentiment to others and make the world a better place. It brings extra joy to our hearts, though, when the volunteers come in the form of young ones, who are encouraged by their parents and teachers to value the art of selflessness and giving at a very young age. Instilling these values spurs a positive influence as these children start building their goals and dreams, and is something we definitely delight witnessing.
This was the case last December 16, when we trooped over to Nayon ng Kabataan with over 50 kids and their parents/guardians from Mary’s Orchard Learning Center, to bring joy to 30 kids in the organization. To start off the day we grouped our volunteers and Nayon kids into smaller teams, so they could bond better and get to know one another as the day progressed. To get the kids and volunteers closer and to open up to each other as well as get the energy going, we played some fun games! It was a delight to see everyone actively listening to the directions and do their best to be the winning team!
After much games we called on our magician to showcase his amazing magic tricks to everyone present. He called on some volunteers as well to do magic with him, which garnered more laughter and amazement from the kids and kids at heart. After our magic show, our volunteers also made sure to have mealtime with the kids, and they spent it talking and getting to know one another better. Our volunteers also handed the Nayon children gift bags to bring home! It was definitely a gesture that the kids would remember, seeing their new friends share their blessings to them.
To cap off such a meaningful day with our kids and little volunteers, we took a group photo. The kids warmly hugged their new friends goodbye, grateful for taking time to visit and fill their hearts with joy and giving. Thank you to our friends at Mary’s Orchard for a day full of blessings!
