“As we give presents at Christmas, we need to recognize that sharing our time and ourselves is such an important part of giving.” — Gordon B. Hinckley
Every Christmas season, Learning Just Made Better (LJMB) employees find time to give back to the kids. LJMB is a training company in Makati that provides highly customized learning solutions in different areas. This year, they chose to share their blessings to the kids of Jesus’ Grace Christian Family Church in Navotas. JGCFC conducts weekly activities for the kids wherein they play games, watch movies, and learn the Bible. The ministry helps kids around the area of Bakoko Street in Navotas.
Around 70 kids arrived at the place with excitement written on their faces. Seven groups are formed and each group has an Ate/Kuya to guide them. As an ice breaker, they were asked to share their names and what they want to receive this Christmas. Most of the kids want toys, bags, and shoes. The teams also thought of a group name and a group cheer. The seven groups are: TSF, Jesus, Amazing, Happy, Ex-B, Incredibles, and Naughty Kids.
The first game played was Bring Me Art. Everyone in the team was given a colored paper which they used to form the objects said by Ate Beth. The challenge is, since no scissors were given, only hands should be used to cut the paper. The first team to finish the task wins. The kids made cute figures of heart, chicken, girl, star and Christmas tree.
Next, they played Paint the Picture. Ate Beth gave scenarios and the groups illustrated the scene. When Ate Beth said stop, everyone should be frozen. A point will be given to the most creative team. The game tested the teams’ creativity and cooperation.
After the games, Kuya Ryan performed a magic show for the kids. The kids watched in wonder especially when Kuya Ryan made a table float which is his favorite trick. After watching, the kids prayed and ate delicious meals handed by the sponsors.
The event ended with the kids hugging their Ates and Kuyas. The Ates and Kuyas returned the hugs and gave them school supplies and groceries for Noche Buena, LJMB not only helped the kids, but also their families. Everyone left the place with smiles on their faces. Smiles that showed us that this is indeed the season to be happy.
