Kuya Romward Celebrates with Holy Family Home

Written by: Ate Tin Ramos, Core Member
One of U! Happy core team, Kuya Romward sponsored and created an event for his birthday. Joined by his family and office friends, we had an artsy party with 25 lovely young girls from Holy Family Home in Pembo, Makati.
To lighten up a bit, volunteers were requested to come in front and tell everyone their name, work and hobbies. Afterwards, they were assigned to join their corresponding groups. It was then the girls turn to introduce themselves to their ates and kuyas and share their talents and dreams to the rest of the group.
Aside from the brief introduction, the groups were asked to think of a group name and prepare a short cheer. We had five teams – Pikachu, Lodi, Baymax, Stitch and Oppa Kan. Each team were enthusiastic as they performed their cheers.
First game was ring relay where teams need to transfer the ring from one member to another using only straws on their lips and no hands. Everyone was serious and had their game faces on. First one to finish all the rings was Team Oppa Kan.
Everyone was still hyped up for another game.
We had another game called guessing game where we had random categories such as fruits, vegetables, provinces, countries and comedians. Team who had the most number of correct answers was Team Oppa Kan. Great job to Team Oppa Kan for their two straight wins!
Fun and excitement did not stop there. Kuya Mac, the magician wowed everyone with his awesome magic tricks.
Last part of the program was an art workshop facilitated by none other than our artistic host Ate Amy. The girls were taught how to make “heart dogs” from heart cutouts of different sizes.
After finishing their artwork, Kuya Romward looked around to pick 5 of the best and gave prizes. Still, no one went home empty handed as each of the girls were given art supplies as gifts.
Everybody settled down to eat delicious meals together. Meal time was also the opportunity for volunteers and girls to bond some more and talk about how great the afternoon was.
As we end the party, the girls surprised Kuya Romward by singing a happy birthday song in different languages.
Thank U! Kuya Romward for not only being a part of U! but also celebrating it with U!
