531 Kuya Marley Celebrates with Tahanan Walang Hagdanan

Written by Vice President for Internal, Weng Cutangco
It is true when we say that you can celebrate anything with U! Happy Events. Last Saturday, Kuya Martin and Ate Jen decided to celebrate their son’s 1st birthday with the kids in Tahanan Walang Hagdanan.
Their son, Kuya Marley, truly had tons of fun with our line-up of activities.
We started our fun afternoon with a getting-to-know segment. The volunteers and the kids from there shared their name, favorite color and favorite game with their groupmates.
While waiting for the other volunteers to arrive, we played a quick game of How How High Can You Go. Mechanics were simple, we gave a category and we gave them two minutes to list down all the names/things that falls under that category. Categories played were Local Actresses, Local Actors, and Pinoy Dishes.
More volunteers came as we were preparing to start our next game, Shape it Up. Everyone were given a balloon. We blew up balloons to a specific size, and the first group to raise the required number (and same size) of balloons wins the game.
Next up was a few rounds of Charades. How do you act out Lechon? Frozen? Refrigerator? Better ask these kids as they really enjoyed this game that they didn’t have a hard time acting.
A children’s birthday wouldn’t be complete without feasting on spaghetti, fried chicken and some buko pandan. Merienda was served while the kids & volunteers continued to get to know each other more.
We gathered everyone for a group photo before Ate Jen and Kuya Martin gave away gifts for the kids. The volunteers got several thank-you’s and tight hugs from the kids as they said good-bye to each other.
It’s not the usual way to spend a Sunday afternoon on a volunteer event, but it sure was very energizing and refreshing. Perfect way to prepare for a new week ahead. Visit our list of events page to know more about our upcoming events!
