108 Kids Imagination with Real Life Foundation

Written by Kuya Harvard

Kids Imagination’s goal was to educate children more- to the point that they use their imagination, to be able to dream and make it a reality.

It was about wearing the story (through costumes), sharing the story (through story telling) and sustaining the story (through the library we were able to put up). The library currently contains over 400 new story telling books for kids as young as 4 years old to 12 years. We were able to source a nice durable shelf as well from EMN Designs. This is the new Real Life Library.

The event was celebrated with 150 kids from Real Life at Kapasigan, Pasig. They are normally in batches of 3 for feeding program every Saturday- but we decided to put them together. It was a task to handle them- but our 85 volunteers were up for the challenge! 🙂

We started with a game called Bahay, Baboy, Bagyo, a great game to break the ice for big groups! This game was also good to initially know the kids and vice versa. We then partnered them with kids- each volunteer partnered with as much as 2 kids.:)

We called on the best in costumes next. We were so glad that many took up our call to wear their favorite story book character. We had Alice in Wonderland, a princess, scarecrow, cleopatra, a flower, an egyptian to name a few! We gave them swirl cards from partner, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Next were a strings of shows. Puppet show proved very entertaining as the kids were amazed and glued to their seats. It was the first time for U! to do that and this wont be the last. They showcased 4 types of shows! 🙂 We had JB next for his new sets of tricks for the delight of kids and volunteers. “JB’s magic is different for he adds comedy and interaction, says Malou Galian.

We had someone from Alitaptap, dressed up as Harry Potter next to do the story telling. It was interactive. He even asked questions, a good way to make sure kids did learn something from the story.

Lunch was served and photo booth was next.

Thanks to Real Life for partnering with us! We are excited to see how the library can be integrated to your weekly program for Kids. 🙂
