As the famous quote goes, “love knows no boundaries” — may this boundary be in the form of time, space, or language. This oft heard saying was further affirmed through our event last March 2 at KidZania, with 25 kids from Manila-based orphanage Precious Heritage Children’s Home, and Southeast Asian delegates of Johnson & Johnson’s. Various Johnson & Johnson markets were represented that day, including some staff members from Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. These delegates flew in from their respective home countries for a conference and to hold a Corporate Social Responsibility program which the U! Happy Events team was privileged to organize.
Despite the language difference, it was love and joy that was palpable throughout the event as our J&J volunteers got to know the children from Precious Heritage Children’s Home, and spent the afternoon touring KidZania, an indoor-family entertainment center. It was evident that the children were having so much fun as they pointed to their ates and kuyas where to head next in the various kiddie offices available at the venue–be it to work as a baker, a cook, a firefighter, or even a vegetable grower who exports harvest in the grocery store! They were also so excited to earn kidzos-KidZania currency that they earn when they complete each job successfully. It was fun for the volunteers as well, who excitedly took pictures of the children they were grouped with and encouraged them with the jobs they were to do. At the end of the tour the kids excitedly trooped to the department store, where they could exchange the Kidzos they earned to purchase memorabilia from KidZania.
Snacktime soon followed the tour, after which our ates and kuyas from J&J handed out their gifts to the kids–school supplies and their very own bag filled with Johnson & Johnson’s products! We capped off the delightful Tuesday morning with a group photo, as each child hugged their ates and kuyas goodbye, thanking them for an amazing time. We would like to thank our volunteers at Johnson & Johnson’s for being a light to the kids of Precious Heritage Children’s Home! Love knows no boundaries, and the kids felt the love that you all extended to them that day. May you continue to reach out and bless more kids!
