Written by Kuya Harvard

We happily capped of 5 straight sessions with Gawad Kalinga Pinagsama last June 28. We started this series last March 8. We travel to Gawad Kalinga Laura in the next 5 months. Let’s do a bit of an art flashback to what we have accomplished with the help of sponsor, Esquire Financing, Inc.

First was portraits making paired with show me your face game. The second colorful pompoms with paint me a picture activity. Third was finger puppet together with act now. Last month was a Father’s Day themed event with pop-up cards and a game called Mahal Ko Ang Tatay Ko. (I love My Father). The fifth one was

Picasso felt inspired by renowned artist, Pablo Picasso. It was one unique art activity that focuses on Cubism. It is a form of artwork wherein objects are analyzed, broken up and reassembled in an abstracted form. In this case, Kuya Robby highlighted the use of different shapes to form an abstract face. The kids with the help of the volunteers worked together to come up with their own versions in different colors.

To get the kids ready for that morning’s activity, Kuya Harvard had a game called Shape it Up. Here groups that form the requested shape together wins. Some shapes proved harder than others. Hexagon for example was a challenge for all the 10 teams that participated.

We are leaving Bgy. Pinagsama but will comeback 6 months from now to have a party with them on December. We will let you know the details for that. Thank you to the many volunteers who joined our workshops with these kids. 🙂
