This is our 10th partnership with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf since we started in 2011. Together we work on getting their customers volunteer with our “out of the box” events with kids. This one was another unique concept to provide support and learning. Happiness followed.
It was our first time to do a Quiz Bee competition amongst kids in partnership with volunteers. To ensure participation of everyone, we made a mixture of a quiz and games. It was divided into three parts: easy, moderate and difficult. Each round has 1, 2 and 3 points respectively. The volunteers can only contribute an answer once in every round through a voucher.
How to answer was made more interesting. If teams answer correctly, they have to either sing, spell it out using their bodies or paint a picture. An appropriate answer guarantees their point for that question. Yes, we made it creative to ensure a fun way to learn.
After announcing the winner amongst 9 teams, we proceeded with an Art Workshop lead by Kuya Robby Singh. Coffee Bean donated notebooks to be designed by themselves. It was an activity to heighten creativity among the 58 grade 5 students that participated.
It was our second visit to Kamuning Elementary School and we look forward for another one this year. Join us! 🙂
