Kids were excited, bustling around on a Sunday morning, gathered at Rohivas Covered Court in Countryside, Pasig City. It was time once again for the B-Awesome Summer Basketball League sponsored the Chua family. Kuya Collin and Kuya Dylan were early at the venue, excited to play basketball with the kids from Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid Escopa and Little Lights Ministry.
Coach Dennis led the warm up and gave instructions and guidelines to the kids. Everyone was excited because they were looking forward to becoming champions of this year’s basketball summer league!
Our kids formed three teams to play. First game was between UniOil led by Collin and Rosary for Life which was participated by Dylan. UniOil won this match with a huge lead of 31-6. Even though they were tired, the UniOil persevered on the following game against the third team, Oishi, and won once again. Everyone was cheering on the UniOil team because the kids kept scoring three points one after the other! They were an easy bet for the championship!
Next game was between Oishi and Rosary for Life, which was a vie for the second place. It was a tough match, with Rosary for Life comprised mainly of females, and Oishi having one minor injury on one of their lead players. The game took an ending where Oishi was declared the second placers. Rosary for Life might have been the last runners, but they sure had fun!
The awarding ceremony was attended by the entire Chua family. They gave out medals to all the players, as well as school supplies for the kids. The champion team UniOil took home school bags. Volunteers, sponsors, and kids were sweaty from the summer heat, but the heat of the camaraderie formed from the basketball games remained in everyone’s hearts.
