BDO Celebrates with SK Barangay Valenzuela

Written by: Ate Kristin, U! Happy Core Team Member
Office Christmas party is a wonderful time for the whole team to feel appreciative and rewarded after a year of hard work. Mostly, we celebrate it by singing at a karaoke bar or going out for a festive lunch. This year, our team, BDO ITD-MB-BBCR opted for a more meaningful bonding experience.
It was U! Happy events first time to team up with Sanguniaang Kabataan of Brgy. Valenzuela. One of the community-based partner, A-HA Learning Center was the one who endorsed this group as they also help kids from this area. Officers of SK Brgy. Valenzuela were able to invite 40 lovely kids ages 5 to 10, living in their barangay to be the beneficiaries of this day’s event.
As we begin the program, my colleagues had to show their runway walk and introduce themselves to the kids as if they were in Mr. and Ms. Universe pageant. Eventually, they were assigned to be Ates and Kuyas of their respective groups.
All in all, we had five groups of 8 kids. The kids with their Ates and Kuyas were given time to get acquainted to each other — not only by names but also sharing a bit of information about themselves. They were even asked to share their all-time favorite food and majority answered, fried chicken.
So, it was game time! First was Hula Together. The winning group had to slowly bring down the hula hoop to the ground using only 2 fingers of each member. The strategy of Group 2 made them win this round. Next was Cheese ring relay. First group to transfer all rings from one end to the other wins. Speediness of Group 4 succeeded this time.
After playing fun games, everyone settled down to watch a magic show. All eyes and ears on Kuya Rico the Magician as he entertained everybody in the room with his amusing performance.
Everyone got hungry after some challenging games and amazing magic tricks. The groups huddled again for healthy delicious meals and more time to bond with their groupmates as they eat together.
Lastly, Ates and Kuyas distributed baon packs as gifts. In return, they received warmest hugs with most genuine smiles from the kids to express their happiness.
Thank U! Sanguniaang Kabataan of Brgy. Valenzuela for welcoming us to your community. Now, that we have got off to a good start, hope to celebrate more events with U!
To my awesome family at work, BDO ITD-MB-BBCR, Thank U! for sharing your time and most especially your Christmas bonuses! Hope you all had a blast spending the holidays working — not in front of the computer but interacting with kids. Thank U! for extending your dedication in the workplace by finding ways to reach out to the community.
