374 Ate Te’s Accessory Workshop with Gawad Kalinga Ave Maria

Written by Secretary, Glenn Costales

Last September 14, members of the U! Core Team visited the recently opened GK Ave Maria Learning Center in Brgy. Ave Maria, Tanay, Rizal. Led by U! President Te Candano, the team made their way to Tanay to conduct a loom band workshop as well as distribute gifts to the nursery students (Sibol).

GK Ave Maria Learning Center is a project of U! Happy Events in partnership with key sponsors who made the school’s construction possible. This now serves as the primary nursery school of the Gawad Kalinga community in Brgy. Ave Maria.

With a typhoon looming that Sunday morning, the team tackled the long drive that was made even more challenging by the rain, winds and fog that descended east of the Metro. This though did not dampen the enthusiasm of the team who were determined to make the most out of the day.

Upon arriving at the venue, the group immediately sat down for lunch together with the kids of Ave Maria. A hearty meal was served giving much needed warmth and energy amidst the pouring environment.

The Sibol kids then lined up to receive their gifts from the Core Team. They also got some wonderfully crafted loom bands for them to flaunt on the school’s opening day.

The team then went on to facilitate the loom band workshop. Distributing themselves into groups, the core members got up close and personal with the kids as they provided instructions on how to work with the colorful loom bands. It was such a fun yet laid back affair that even some of the mothers got into the art session.

Lastly, the team wrapped up with a group photo to capture the day’s event. They then gave their goodbyes to the kids bearing the excitement of seeing each again in the months to come.

U! Happy Events believes in the importance of education and values formation especially in the early years of kids. The group is committed to support Ave Maria Learning Center to make sure that it is able to carry out its purpose and bear fruit in the lives of the children in the community.

U too can help! Email us at change@uhappyevents.com to know how.
