1038 Ate Rae and friends Celebrate with Youth Mobilization

Written by: Ate Denise Callanta, Core Team Member

Hidden in the heart of Taguig lies a small structure filled of all beams and gleams. Each difficult alleys and narrow streets led us to twenty five active kids and although the place was hard to find, it felt so fulfilling to reach the end of what seemed to be a long rough road– we were rewarded with shy smiles and glowing eyes.
The sponsors stood in front of the busy kids. Kuya Jev, Kuya Jef, Kuya Rodolf, Ate Irene, Ate Raiza, Ate Shannon, Ate Rar, and Ate Roni played with us without complains; they introduced themselves in par with the children’s energy. After the introductions, they were grouped separately. Each team was instructed to name their group according to the theme, Christmas Season. Following the traditional introduction of each team comes the fun and exciting games of pass the garter and cheese ring relay– both of which Ate Raiza’s team won. Her team exhibited their good agile and flexibility in both games and despite being covered with sweat, our stomach ache with endless laughter. We were then rewarded with good food served by the kind Ates and Kuyas. At the end of the program, the kids received their earliest Christmas gifts of school supplies.
As Christmas Season gets closer, the best gift that every child can receive is the value of time and fun that is shared and felt out of genuine passion and kindness. Thank you Kuya Jev and his team for spending a few hours with us and the kids in Youth Mobil. Till Next time!
