Ate Mikaela’s Birthday Bash with Heart at Play
Last August 25, we witnessed ate Mikaela’s beautiful heart as she shared her birthday celebration with the kids from Heart at Play Foundation – an organization that offers and promotes dance and movement therapy for those with special needs. The birthday celebration was held in the Sacred Heart Parish wherein over 30 kids enjoyed an afternoon of games, dancing, and love.
The event started off with a warm up for the Heart at Play kids, wherein ate Mikaela along with her friends and other volunteers. The large group was divided into smaller groups. Each group had to line up and do various exercises relay race style. Some of the exercises they did was jumping and doing a foot stepping sequence until they reached the end goal.
After everyone had been warmed up, it was time for the games! The kids enjoyed a game of no hands hula hoop relay, wherein each group had to pass a hula hoop to the end of the line using only their bodies and not their hands. After a couple of rounds of the game, the kids settled down to greet ate Mikaela a happy birthday by singing to her, and they even presented letters they made and flowers to show their love for her.
After this, the kids presented a heartwarming dance number along with their guardians. And then, the kids did a fashion show twice, and everyone loved it! Truly, it was amazing to see these kids step up and perform with confidence and joy. After all the festivities and activities, it was finally time for the afternoon meals! Everyone had various hearty meals from shanghai to the classic silog. Eventually, after spending time with the kids and eating with them, the ate and kuya volunteers had to bid goodbye to the kids but certainly, the encounter has made an impact on everyone’s hearts.
It is truly a joy to be able to make others happy. Because of ate Mikaela’s passion, she has shown the kids of Heart at Play that we can all share happiness with each other, and we are all equal and have love in our hearts that we can use to empower and enjoy with others.
