Medrell de Jesus Celebrates with Little Lights

Written by: Ate Char, U! Happy Officer
It is only four day before Christmas and we can definitely feel the holiday spirit. Everyone was excited as we arrived at Countryside Covert Court in Pasig. Thirty of the Little Lights children welcomed us. Little Lights Ministry is headed by Pastor Joseph Casaje and wife Sister Janette. They provide support programs for the children in the community. We have partnered with them since 2010 and we have known some of the kids since they were little. They are so adorable and cheerful and always welcome us with hugs.
We introduced the volunteers to the children before they joined the groups of kids. Ate Medrell was joined by friends and family as they shared their blessings with the kids. They got to know the children in the group as the kids shared things about themselves. The groups also come up with their group names.
We had several activities for the day. In the game Dodge Ball, teams would throw the balls against the members of the opposing team. Once a team member is hit he exits the game. The fastest team thats able to hit all members of the opposing team wins the game.
In Reverse Pinoy Henyo, instead of the usual Pinoy Henyo where one person would guess the word, the entire team would be asking the questions answerable by yes or no white only the one person knows the word. The teams were very competitive as they tried coming up with the correct word.
In Pass the Dance, teams formed a straight line all facing the back except the first person on each team. The dancer in front would do a dance step which the people in the first line would copy. The person then would tap the one in front of him and do the dance step. The person would then pass the dance step to the next person until it reaches the end of the line. The last person would then come to the front to do the step. The team that does the correct dance step won the game. It was fun to watch the dance step changing as they teams passed them on to the next person. They laughed as they tried to do the correct dance steps.
After all the fun it was time for the kids to enjoy their early dinner. We gave out prizes to the winners of the group games. The kids also received school supplies which they got to bring home. We had our group photo and the kids hugged their ates and kuyas as they said their thank you and goodbyes.
