990 Ate Meann's Cathecism Workshop with Angono Weightlifting Team

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come – 1 Timothy 4:8
With today’s somewhat indulging lifestyles all around us, it calls for an even greater discipline to keep one healthy and fit – physically, mentally and spiritually. Ate Meann is an advocate of such together with her friends and fellow fitness advocates as she organized an extended birthday event.
Our hale and hearty ates and kuyas were joined by young adults from the Angono Weightlifting Team at the rooftop studio of the Sky High Gym in Marikina City. Headed by Coach Richard, this weightlifting group from east of greater Metro Manila aims to empower and train young teens into using their time and dynamic spirits into a worthwhile and positive development through weightlifting and other exercise methods. It was really inspiring to meet this group with a unique and promising cause.
The volunteers were certainly not ones to lack in enthusiasm. They joined the young teens in a brief getting-to-know activity. You could feel the stored excitement just waiting to get it on with the games lined up. So we went right into it.
The first game was our very own Pass-the-Dance relay. It’s just like Pass-the-Message, but you convey dance steps instead. The last person in each team’s line also had to race upfront and show off the dance moves. The team with the correct steps and finishes first wins the point for their team. Much like getting fit, some were more adept than others. It was all in good fun though.
The 2nd game warranted some mental and arithmetic display with the Stack-Me-Up game. The teams needed to work together in this game to form perfect pyramids, of different numbers and sizes, using a fixed number of paper cups. The competitiveness spilled over into this contest as we saw the hands, eyes and brains of the teams cranking to try and figure out the number of cups they needed for each pyramid. It was also fitting game to exhibit the importance of teamwork and communication.
As a final activity, the entire group sat down to a Gospel Sharing session. This is one of the more intimate events we’ve had and this important session was done using the ‘Wordless Book.’ A collection of colored papers comprised this small pamphlet to impart the essence of God’s love (John 3:16), the sacrifice and resurrection of His son
Jesus Christ because of man’s sin and the eternal and free gift of eternal life through Him. A prayer concluded this heartfelt activity to which the kids and volunteers personally followed.
Being a celebration, it was only fitting that everyone skip any healthy diet they may have. A delicious and abundant meal was finally served that was delightfully enjoyed by both the volunteers and teens.
Lastly, we could not help but relish the glorious view of the Rizal mountain range from the rooftop of our venue. It was there we took a group photo to wrap it all up.
Our liveliest and robust thank U! to Ate Meann and her friends for an encouraging event with the Angono Weightlifting Team.
