879 Ate Josephine and Ate Kaja’s Friends Celebrate with Little Lights Ministry

Written by U! Happy Events’ Staff, Ate Michaela Maligaya
Even if it’s days, a week or a month away before Christmas day, it has been part of our Filipino culture to hold parties for early celebrations. Today, few volunteers with hearts dedicated to children came before U! Happy to set a simple gathering with the Kids of the Blind in Bliss Townhomes, Pasig.
Today’s activity was sponsored by our lovely ates—Mary Ann, Jesse, Kyle, Allison, Cyna, Tracy, Patricia, Betina and Camille; and kuyas—Joey, Richard and Paul. They are from two groups of friends who had chosen to share a day with the true heart of Christmas celebrations: the children. They were led by Ate Josephine and Ate Kaja.
The kids, ates and kuyas were divided into groups for the games headed by kuya Harvard. The Paper Cup Game was played first wherein 15 paper cups were given to each group. After kuya Harvard gave equations from basic to math wiz level, the group must use the cups corresponding the right answers. The first group that built a pyramid out of the paper cups won the game. Then there was Save The Sea Creatures. Again, the groups were given a bilao with different sea creatures such as fish, dolphins, sharks and octopuses cut out from colored papers. Each member of the group was also given a paper plate. The rule for first round is to make all the sea creatures inside the bilao fly off of the container by fanning on them until everything’s out. The next round was more difficult since they had to put the sea creatures inside the bilao applying the same mechanics. The group which had the most number of sea creatures inside their bilao won.
Our clown friends prepared an astounding show for everyone to witness. First, ate Valencia played with bubbles as they danced with the wind. Small bubbles, big bubbles flew in the air! And yes, our ates and kuyas, together with their partner kid, had their photos taken while inside a giant bubble! Next, Kuya Timong demonstrated his magical tricks. Balls mysteriously came out of his mouth, colorful boxes appeared inside a thin paper bag, candies flew out of what seemed to be an empty container.
After taking snacks prepared by our ates and kuyas, the most exciting part for the kids arrived: the gift-giving. The Kids of the Blind received school supplies with pad papers, notebooks, pencils and crayons, with surprise gifts and chocolate marshmallow treats. They truly had one early Christmas party they will forever be thankful for. Wishing every happiness to our ates and kuyas who made the event possible.
