1154 Ate Eka Celebrates with Gawad Kalinga, Laura Drive

It was a perfect day for our Gawad Kalinga kids for fun and sports. Luckily, another good-hearted citizen was very willing to make this perfect day extra special. It was Ate Eka’s birthday celebration and she chose to celebrate to with GK Laura kids. Even though she is not the sporty kind of person, she opted still to have football as the main event of the day.
There were 25 kids in the venue and they were separated in five groups namely Team Hype Beast, Team Yamato, Team Liit, Team Circus and Team Bagani. All were very competitive in games and group works. They introduced and shared their favorites to each other to break the ice within the group. After that, they started playing Shoot that Ball. In the end, Team Bagani emerged victorious. They also played Catch The Ball and they were partnered to each other. The game was so intense because each pairs seldom make mistake in catching. Amazing how they were able to strategize in a short period of preparation.
After two minor games, we proceeded with the name event which was the footsal workshop. Thanks to Coach Leej who served as our coach/mentor. He created two groups only (girls vs boys). But before the main play, Coach Leej taught the basics first. Basics included how to properly kick, run and pass the ball. You wouldn’t think that kids were starters the way they performed in the main game. Although some were still confused on what’s happening, still both teams managed to make a score!
Surely after the game, kids were all exhausted that’s why they immediately went back to their original group and ate! You can see smiles in their faces as they looked satisfied in the game. They had so much fun to a sport which they don’t usually play.
Ate Eka brought with her her family, Daddy Noli, Mommy Agnes, kuya and friends. According to them, they had more fun than the kids and they will surely do that good deed again.
We are so lucky to have such warm people who would think others than their own. For them, they love those kids same as how they love their friends and family.
