It was a hot, mundane summer Saturday for the children of Brgy. Libis, Quezon City last March 17, 2018. Only this time, Mommy Angela and Ate Brianna with her classmates from Poveda visited their Baranggay Hall to do something different and worthwhile with Kids from We Care.
We Care Barangay Outreach is a ministry of CCF Eastwood whose primary advocacy is to transform homes into Christ committed families through a holistic program bannered by values formation seminars using Biblical truth as its foundation. Their mission is upholding the roles of the parents in the transformation of families and barangays in becoming communities of Christ committed followers.
Ate Brianna was celebrating her birthday and with this, she had a vision to do something that would leave a mark. She then, together with her mommy Angela and her high school friends, gathered at the Baranggay Hall of Libis at around 930am last Saturday morning. They were met with the U! Happy volunteers led by Ate Beth who showed them how to mix basic colors to make dynamic colors. The art lessons were spearheaded by Ate Blanca and assisted by Ate Emjay, who also taught the volunteers how to do different strokes to color the mural outline.
Around 25 kids from Baranggay Libis then arrived to participate in the mural painting activity. They formed groups of four, which were administered by a volunteer from Ate Brianna’s group of friends. The teams huddled together and the Ate’s read a story book to the kids. After this, they proceeded to paint the walls of the Baranggay Libis Learning Center. The kids had so much fun mixing and matching different sets of colors!
After about an hour of joy and painting, the kids ate lunch together with their Ate’s. One of the kids volunteered to pray for the food. Afterwards, Ate Brianna and friends gave the children coloring books and some school supplies. The children, in turn, sang a Happy Birthday song to Ate Brianna.
The wall mural of Brgy. Libis Learning Center turned out to be a colorful display of fun and experience, Thanks to Mommy Angela, Ate Brianna and her friends from Poveda.
