447 Ate Armelie Celebrates with Church So Blessed

Written by Core Team Leader, Japs Paragsa

It is a blessing and a privilege to be able to reach out and touch peopleā€™s, especially kidsā€™, lives. Last February 8, Sunday, U Happy EventsĀ expanded its network of beneficiaries after holding an event at Church so Blessed in Quezon City. This was made possible by our sponsor, Ate Armelie, who celebrated her birthday with us. The event was even made more exciting and fun because of the overwhelming number of volunteers shared their energy and time with the kids.
The activity started by matching a kid and a volunteer so they can get to know each other. It is important for the volunteer and the kid to get to know and be comfortable with each other because they will do all the activities for the day together (prizes and gifts are at stake!). After warming everyone up, we immediately started with the first game of the afternoon. The kids were grouped together and each member was given a red balloon (it was almost Valentineā€™s after all). The task was very simple. They need to copy the shape of the balloon the facilitator, your truly, will make. Oh boy! It was tough (but fun)! After 5 rounds, we finally named the winning group. Whew!
That was just the beginning though. We promised everyone a fun-filled afternoon and we keep our promises. But apart from being fun, we also want to make the event educational. It was time for ā€œRegalo o Bayongā€, an adaptation of the famous noon-time TV game show. It was a collaboration between the kid and their partner volunteer to battle their through the jackpot round and best all the other pairs. However, we felt generous at that time so instead of choosing just one winner to move to the jackpot round, we gave gifts instead to the last few pairs who made it through. Oh, the joy of gift-giving!
Because Valentineā€™s day is just around the corner, we invited Ate Blanca to facilitate a ā€œGaano Kita Kamahal?ā€ card-making activity. Yes, I knowā€¦ they are still kids. But Valentineā€™s is also about all other kinds of love after all. It was heart-warming to see kids make cards for their parents, guardians and siblings. All the loveā€¦ Itā€™s a wonderful life!
Any U Happy event will not be complete without food and gifts, the most celebrated part of the day. ā˜ŗ Ate Armelie led the gift-giving and looking at the joy in her eyes, I think itā€™s safe to say that she received the best gift she could ever get for her birthday.
So, if you want to receive the same gift, join us in one of our future events. Visit our website for details. Be a blessing and receive the gift of giving!
