313 Appetite Magazine’s Cooking Workshop with Little Lights Ministry

Written by Kuya Harvard

We believe in nourshment program among others. Three NGOs namely Little Lights (Tawi Tawi and Falcon Compound in Rizal and Santos Compound in Pasig), Project Pearls (Bgy. Ulingan, Tondo) and Helping Hand (Former Smokey Mountain Site) are provided for 1-3 times a week. Through partnerships with companies, around 920 kids are fed. Food then is used as a tool to teach after school programs, tutorials and other values.

Last May 2, we met again our modern day heroes, Pastor Joseph and Ms. Jeanette Casaje of Little Lights. Founded by their love for children, Little Lights aims to nourish the body, mind and soul of every child and their love ones. They help them learn, be productive and be determined to live a righteous life in Jesus Christ.
Together with the couple were 80 kids from nearby Tawi Tawi community in Cainta, Rizal. Appetite magazine and our team took the time to reach out through cooking workshop, games and food! Ate Jeanine Sison of JCI Manilena demonstrated how to cook chicken pastel while emphasizing the nutrients of every ingredient. Kuya Harvard filled in to give more excitement and through trivia and acting activities. The Appetite team served and made sure all the kids are happy with their meals.

This particular community has more than a hundred regular children. Their ages range from infants (with mothers on the side) to fifteen years old. Specific programs conducted are art workshops, hygeine, praise & worship and bible stories.
Watch out for this feature on their June issue. Appetite Magazine features feeding programs and the like in all their issues.
