955 Ate Cristina Celebrates with Holy Family Home

Written by Board Member, Ate Weng Cutangco
It was a holiday. The perfect day to catch up with friends, do a general house cleaning, or just hibernate in your room. Our team and the group of our dear sponsor spent the holiday differently though. We spent our Monday morning at Holy Family Home in Pembo, Makati.
The morning was filled with fun and games, while the kids’ faces were filled with paint (in a beautiful way!). Thanks to our resident Face-Painter who drew different colors and shapes in the girls’ faces.
We did a quick get-to-know activity so our Ates/Kuyas will know their group mates more (and vice versa!). Everyone was asked to say their name, their seatmates name and their favorite food.
We also played a game of Big or Small Category using Hula Hoops as props. Kuya Harvard mentioned a random category and team members scatter to identify if they fall under the big hula hoop for the bigger majority or the small hula hoop for the minor group. This one was fun, the few volunteers engaging well with the children and teens.
Another game we had was called Count Me If You Can. Here groups determine the math answer together. Everyone gets a cone or two and when Kuya Harvard says go, they stack the cones in the middle to represent their math answer. It got more challenging as more questions were thrown. Kuya Harvard even put together Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction together in one equation.
Along with our usual healthy rice meal, the Sponsor (Ate Cristina and her family) had a cute set up for the candy buffet which the kids definitely enjoyed. They also designed the whole venue with their own do it your own props.
We ended the program with a group photo, tight hugs from the kids, and gifts being given to them. Each one got a set of school supplies and even more sweet treats.
It was truly a memorable Independence Celebration for us, and for Ate Cristina’s family.
