Written by Kuya Harvard
It is truly a happy moment when young people converge to reach out to children in need. I started having the heart for them when I was on my teens. Around 40 students joined us for a celebration of life with 25 disabled children and children of workers there.
Tahanang Walang Hagdanan aims to uplift the lives of the orthopedically handicapped persons. It has five workshops, six dormitories for trainees who came from far provinces. It is a rehabilitation and skills training center with sheltered workshops where the people with disabilities are trained to be productive and self-reliant member of the society.
We had two games after our customary getting to know activity. Inside, Out was a big hit to all participants and it got really competitive among the five groups. The first team to arrange themselves inside or outside the hula hoop through different categories mentioned, get a point at a time. We also had How High Can You Go to test their know how on various trivia.
As we came to a close to our event, we also got to witness two dance numbers from the children. They reached out to me and requested if they can present to their Ates and Kuyas from IETI or International Electronics Technical Institute.
