At U! Happy Events we have always loved partnering with organizations who have made it their mission to serve and bless those in the community who need help the most. It inspires us to continue doing what we do, and widens our vision for the group to reach more. Such was the case last December 7, as we partnered with Zonta Club, a service organization that empowers women through service and advocacy. Zonta has been around internationally for years, and to witness them still so passionate in reaching out truly was a privilege.
For their outreach event, Zonta Club went to Pineda Elementary School. We began the day with a prayer, and getting-to-know. From the start it was already a delightful sight to see all the kids conversing and interacting with our volunteers, smiling and excited to bond with them and for the activities ahead. For this event, we asked our resident U! Happy Story Teller, kuya Rich, to play games and activities centered on building the students’ character and confidence. This is something kuya Rich is also passionate about, so he obliged us with acting activities that made the volunteers and the kids so engaged and energized. Little by little, the children were opening up and coming out of their shells to do the actions and scenarios kuya Rich was calling out for them to do. Kuya Rich capped off his stint with a story which he acted out along with the kids.
To refuel them after much fun in acting, our Zonta volunteers made sure to hand out meals to the children. They also surprised the students with gifts, something they prepared to make it an even more meaningful celebration, as Christmas was right around the corner. To capture the meaningful time we had together, we took a group photo. As an end to our time together, we asked the kids to give the volunteers warm hugs and smiles as their “thank you” to our Zonta Club volunteers for taking the time to visit them and give back their blessings.
