Our newly elected president for 2013 shares her story on volunteering. She is one of the first people we served with when we founded U! Happy Events in December of 2006. Hear from her and get inspired on her journey with us.
Born to a big family, I grew up lending a hand to people, whether it’s helping my little sister with her homework, or helping around the house.
Growing up at Immaculate Concepcion Academy, I was taught the value of serving others. Here I joined the outreach committee. Through it, I saw impoverished kids radiating with positivity despite their situation. With these experiences, I decided to continue along this path in college by joining differentĀ organizations in UST. Since then, volunteering has been a regular part of my life. I pushed on and joined Make A Wish Foundation after college.
U! Happy Events was a pleasant surprise. A friend from MAWF invited me to āKids at Heartā at Museo Pambata in 2007, where I was an ate to a kid for a day. After that, I found myself volunteering and looking forward to more U! events. Slowly, I was immersing myself deeper in U! and eventually Ā becoming part of the organizing committee, which I truly enjoy.
I guess volunteering is already in my nature. I love being with kids and I love helping people out. The activities of U! Happy Events truly offer the perfect match. The childrenās smile because of your time and effort is the best āthank youā that I know I cannot get anywhere else.
