Written by: Ate Charmain Tan, Vice President External

We visited Bahay Aruga once again this Friday morning. Located in San Marcelino Manila, Bahay Aruga is a free halfway house for pediatric cancer patients. As always the children welcomed us as we frequently visit their home. The event was sponsored by Rotary Club of Makati San Lorenzo (RCMSL). Miss Baby, a member of the RCMSL has been inviting us for the last few years to join her yearly run, Takbo Breast Friends which is held every October. Joined by current president Miss Maridel, Miss Charlotte, and other members they were welcomed by Miss Mayet at Bahay Aruga.
We introduced them to the children and the mothers at Bahay Aruga and they joined the groups of kids. We played a simple game as our first activity. In line with the holiday season Kuya Harvard named some christmas related characters which the children were to act out. We would pick one child every round as the winner. He asked the kids to act out snowman, reindeer, lechon, and christmas tree. The kids were so adorable as they actedd out the snowman and reindeer. They were also funny trying their best to act out lechon. The winners each round got prizes from RCMSL.
We then got to watch the very entertaining magic show of Maetro Koby. Doves flew out as the kids scrambled trying to reach for them. Polka dot umbrellas kept popping out and candle sticks were flying out from the ground. Kuya Koby picked a volunteer to help him with his tricks. The super energetic kid Angelo, of course, was the first volunteer to go to the front. Kuya Kobe also drew a face on a while board that would magically move. The kids laughed as they kept pointing to the board saying “It’s moving!” The kids also had so much fun watching a bunny appear from a platter. As his final act Kuya Kobe did his popular flying table performance where the table magically few above ground and over the children.
The Rotary Club of Makati San Lorenzo then gave out gift packs for the kids. The kids got bags full of toiletries while the center also received items from RCMSL they could use. Everyone then gathered around for a group photo while the kids thanked their ates and kuyas for visiting them again at their homes. We thank Miss Baby and the Rotary Club of San Lorenzo Makati for always creating projects for the communities.
