It was her mom, Ate Donna who coordinated with us to visit and have a party at National Children’s Hospital. When I met her and the family, it was actually a birthday outreach with her eldest, Kuya Joshua. It was his 21st.
Before coming in the ward room hallway, it was quiet and gloomy. Our goal was to overturn that with our team tagging along a balloon twister, loads of food and gifts and an amazing team of volunteers ready to give the children smiles.
We jumpstarted our short stint here with Show Me Your Face game, the kids together with volunteers simply had to portray a bunch of animals, how they look and act. I together with celebrant Kuya Joshua took turns in choosing the winners. This was a delight to watch.
The Castillo family also went around the rooms to give out story books and read them to some of the patients. Lots of twisted balloons were also distributed alongside various gifts and food.
Our time here ended on a brighter note. And before we left the hospital, we sang Kuya Joshua a Happy 21st Birthday!
