Volunteering activity is an effective way for a company to engage their employees in corporate social responsibility. DATEM Incorporated, a construction firm located in Quezon City opted to have a community outreach program for their Newly hired employees’ Christmas party. Kids from Tondo through John D.V. Salvador foundation were the beneficiaries.
To start the program, Ates and Kuyas were called in front to introduced themselves to the kids. They were also requested to sing a bit of their favorite Christmas songs. The kids were delighted as they listen to Ates and Kuyas showing off their singing talents.
There were 100 kids and 20 volunteers which were equally divided to form 10 groups. We played 2 games. Firstly, we played Paint me a picture where groups had to come up with the best pose according to the given Christmas-themed scenario. Points were given to the most creative group. Secondly, we had a tricky but fun mental game where they had to calculate answers in their heads to win.
After the games, kids enjoyed their delicious lunch. Then, volunteers distributed Noche Buena packages to them as Christmas presents. Something that the kids can share with their families for Christmas eve dinner.
We ended the party with a nice group photoshoot followed by warm exchange of hugs among the Ates, Kuyas, and kids in the room. Truly, it was such a wonderful experience to share the spirit and joy of the holidays in a more meaningful way.
