266 Corazon Foundation Celebrates with Quirino Memorial Medical Center

Written by Board Member, Matthew Chua

It was Sunday in the afternoon when the team rushed their way from a tree-planting event in Laguna to Quirino Memorial Medical Center to teach kids on how to make Christmas cards.

The event started with a fun game and was followed by a very interactive story telling led by Ate Posh and Kuya Rich, both from Alitaptap Story Tellers. They shared the story of “The Last Tree”, which requires the animated participation of volunteers and kids. It was truly a fun and effective way of entertaining and delivering the moral lesson of the story. After the interactive story-telling session, the highlight of the event took place.

Kids were taught to create their own Christmas cards, which will be given to their parents, through the use of basic drawing materials such as bond paper, colored paper, pencil, and crayons. Kids of QMMC really took time and effort in making their personalized Christmas card, which says “thank you” to their parents.

Our volunteers also showed their creativity and sincerity by making their own Christmas cards, which they intended to give to their partner kid. Theirs include words that speak of care, love, hope, and healing. A simple way of saying “get well really soon”. Our volunteers are, indeed, can be effective instruments in inspiring, motivating, and in boosting the strengths of our QMMC patients in order for them to have their fast healing and recovery.

Christmas is not just about “giving”. It is also about exercising our ability to show, inspiration, and motivation. Through these, we simply become other people’s guiding light in times of their healing and in times of their everyday struggles. After all, the true spirit of Christmas lies at the core of our hearts. And we need to release it out and share it to the next person we meet along the way.

Merry Christmas! 🙂
