1054 Ate Claire’s Bridal Shower with Gawad Kalinga Laura, Taguig

Written by: Ate Kristin Ramos, Core Team Member

When you hear “bachelorette party,” many things come to mind – loud, wild, and crazy. However, for the sponsors and volunteers of this event, it did not have to be like those to be fun and memorable.
Ate Claire and the rest of the bridesmaids surprised bride-to-be Ate Kris with a volunteering day for her bachelorette party. Ate Kris made mention that she and her fiancé spent their 2nd date by volunteering at U! Happy events.
Coincidentally, the group of kids that afternoon were all girls. We decided to have wedding-themed activities as it was very timely. Ates and kids were asked to form a group and come up with their group name. We had four groups namely Team Flower Girls, Team Ninang, Team Groom Groom, and Team Pretty Flower girls.
For the games, we first played ‘Make me a picture’ where teams creatively illustrated various wedding scenes. Then, we played Puzzle game where they had to assemble big jigsaw puzzles.
The last activity was Art workshop led by U! Happy’s very own Ate Amy who was also the event host that day. She taught the kids how to make Flower girl wands using colorful papers and straws. Ates helped the girls as they design their own wands.
After showing off their artistic side in making those wands, everyone shared a hearty meal together. Another girl-bonding moment among the Ates and kids as they share stories while finishing their food.
Before we end the party, Ates gave school supplies to the kids as gifts. In return, the kids showered their Ates with big hugs and warm kisses. Undeniably, everyone enjoyed the unconventional yet awesome bachelorette party.
Do you want to make the most out of your girl-bonding experience too? Volunteer and create your own event with us just like what Ate Kris and her bridesmaids did.
