A baby’s first birthday celebration is bound to be special. Therefore, Mommy Dessa and Daddy Marti opted to celebrate Kobe’s 1st Birthday with the kids from SOS Children’s Villages in Alabang. Family and friends joined the party and became Ates and Kuyas to 25 energetic SOS kids aged 4 to 13 years old for a day. It was a Filipino Fiesta themed birthday party. The venue was filled with colorful banderitas and creatively decorated using banig and bilao.
Volunteers and kids were divided into groups. They were given a time to get acquainted with themselves and asked to come up with their group names. Even the group names fit the theme – Team Mansanas, Camp Sawi, Team Maligalig, Team Masayahing Bata, and Team Mabait.
First game was Paint A Picture. It was a team effort to use their imagination and create a scenario given to them and be in still mode. Scenarios were typical fiesta activities such as Santacruzan, Barangay Singing contest, and Basketball League.
Then, Kuya Mac brought energy and humor to entertain everyone with a fun magic show. Some kids participated in making the magic tricks too.
The kids also played traditional Filipino party games. One was Pabitin which they enjoyed grabbing goodies as much as they can. Then, Pukpok Palayok where the first kid player smashed the pot on the first try.
A Filipino kid’s birthday party is not complete without homemade spaghetti and hotdog & marshmallows on sticks.
As we bid farewell, the kids gave their Ates and Kuyas a big hug and said thank you for being a part of Kobe’s fiesta-riffic birthday party.
