Gray clouds surrounded the SOS Village on the afternoon of November 18. Although the small drops of rain portends the approaching event, the small barkada of Ate Jasmil, Ate Vicky, Ate Cheska, Kuya Martin, Kuya Gio, and Kuya Marco have nevertheless braved the bad weather condition just so they could spend some time with the children in the SOS Village at Ayala Alabang. The children must’ve felt likewise the same; they received us well with loud screams, excited hearts and infecting smiles. It was an afternoon of happy chaos and delight.
After the brief introduction of each Ates and Kuyas, they were separated into different groups to accommodate the 25 children present during the event. As the program started, the Ates and Kuyas were challenged with a game of beach ball relay along with their groups. Subsequently, a bubble show was performed for the kids and was followed by a merienda prepared for everybody.
As the year comes to close, there is so much to be thankful for. And at some point, we get to realize that the surpassing years are more than just numbers and time—it’s likewise all made for the people we spend time with. And as for Ate Vicky, she learned that connecting with her high school friends is made more valuable while lending a helping hand.
