656 Unexpected Moments Book Launch by Acel Van Ommen for Right Start

Who would have thought that the girl behind the OPM classic, “Torete” would also be an author?
Singer-songwriter Acel Bisa-van Ommen, the voice behind the hit songs “Torete,” “Sulat,” and “Sa Langit” in the early 2000s with her band Moonstar88, and popularized the Korean novela theme song, “One Love” a couple of years back, recently launched her first book entitled, “Who Would Have Thought? Finding Identity, Love, and Purpose in Unexpected Moments” at Splice Resto Bar in Greenfield District, Shaw Boulevard.
Focused on the themes IDENTITY, LOVE, and PURPOSE, the book talks about how Acel found the answer to her heart’s deepest longings. In her quest for IDENTITY, Acel shared her journey – how from a shy and timid little girl, she ended up becoming the vocalist of a band, explaining why she left the band at the peek of her career. In the second part of the book, Acel recounted her love story, which was featured in the show, “Wagas,” last November. The third part of the book is about PURPOSE, telling the story of how Acel and her friends started “Right Start” – a non profit organization that helps underprivileged children. The book aims to inspire and communicate a message of hope during life’s down times, and seeks to challenge the reader to go on an adventure by taking that leap of faith to a life that is beyond the ordinary.
Together with her artist friends – singer and songwriters Ate Abby Asistio, Ate Moira dela Torre, Ate Sarah Bulahan, and Kuya Gab Gomez of “The Voice Kids”, Acel presented her book to the audience uniquely. The guests read excerpts from the book, shared inspiring and tear-jerking personal stories, and sang songs related to the theme. Kuya Acel did a monologue she wrote entitled, “Who Am I?” and sang her original songs in the book, which includes her latest single, “Panyo.” Her book illustrator, Brian Vee entertained and inspired everyone with his spoken-word piece entitled “Ang ABAKADA ng Tunay na Pag-Ibig.”
Hosted by actress andsinger-songwriter, Emmanuelle Vera, the program started with surprise birthday greetings for Ms. Donita Rose and Ate Abby Asistio who both went out of their way to enjoy Kuya Acel’s book launch, showing their support on the exact day of their birthdays. Kaya Acel’s manager, Ms. Angeli Valenciano together with the Manila Genesis team supported and cheered their artist who is now a new author.
The book is available in CSM Publishing, Fully Booked, House of Praise outlets, PCBS, and selected National Bookstores. For a signed copy of the book, make your order from www.acelmusic.com.
