837 Stride Fashion Show for the Benefit of Sagip Buhay

Written by Kuya Harvard
The Sagip Buhay Medical Foundation, Inc. (SAGIP) of the Department of Medicine in UP-PGH and The Phi Lambda Sorority had their fund raising event via a fashion show at Globe Circuit grounds in Circuit Makati. The event, STRIDE, Rx: A Work of HeART aimed to subsidize crucial diagnostic examinations and life-saving medications for many indigent patients. Since its conception in 1995, SAGIP has helped more than 5000 patients amounting to 3 Million of medical assistance per year.
The Phi Lambda Delta Sorority on the other hand is the premier sorority in the UP College of Medicine. Since 1969, the Sorority has shared in the vision and mission of the College of Medicine to produce a community of doctors who possess a heightened social consciousness through a firm commitment to excellence and leadership in community-oriented medical service directed especially to the underserved. HIV is a growing problem in the Philippines and Phi aims to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS and provide direct assistance to these patients in PGH through its flagship project, “EMPOWERED.”
U! Happy Events having been a partner of theirs for Children’s Fair for two consecutive years, sponsored this worthwhile activity.
This was the fourth time they had this show with the help of their fashion director Mr. Jackie Aquino. Around 150 fashionable doctors and medical students walked down the runway in masterpieces by renowned and up and coming local fashion designers.
