225 Ate Nikki’s Story Telling Workshop with New Faith Family Home

Written by Kuya Harvard

Some claim that rain is a sign of blessings. It was indeed last rainy Saturday when our sponsors and volunteers donated and spent time with 25 kids from New Faith Family Children’s Home. We had two sponsors that day- the family of Ate Nikki Tanchanco and Ate Vanna Lim. They donated cash and goods for the use of the center.

We have been partners with this orphanage since we had Kids Fiesta last March 2008. Since then, we were able to reach out to 500 community kids. We had a number of visits in between, including a Christmas event last December of 2012.

To get the event going, we had the volunteers partnered with kids for two of our games. We played body works and dodge ball. Games always make the event more relaxed and fun.

Our event was all about story telling. We had two goals that afternoon for the kids. We wanted the children to love and enjoy reading, and imbibe the morals in every piece of literature. Ate Jeanie Sison, our Summer Musical event Director, lead the team of volunteers in this workshop. She used a variety of tools to get the kid excited. Towards the end, we divided them into groups for a presentation. Each group performed a story we picked for them.

The kids received 2 story books each from our supplier, Adarna Publishing. All titles were all different so they can share it eventually. We distributed a total of 47 books. Besides that, the kids got goodies from Ate Nikki.

This ministry exists to prepare children to honor God in their everyday lives. Founded in 2006, Kids International Ministries was created to raise impoverished children in Christian environments across the globe. We desire to raise these children in one of our children’s homes or by connecting them to a Christian family for adoption, either in their culture or abroad.
