938 SGS Gulf Limited Celebrates with AHA Learning Center

Written by Core Team Leader, Kuya Richard Yatar
Another lovely day for the kids of AHA Learning Center because they were able to grace the beauty of a corporate setting in the heart of Makati. It was so refreshing because they went in the office of our sponsor to make friends and have fun. The activity was meant also to eradicate our sponsors’ saturation to work and relax for a bit. It was just fascinating that they chose to spend their time helping others rather than go to malls and do personal stuff.
The kids from AHA were invited by SGS Gulf Limited, our sponsor, to their office to have an Easter Egg event with them and other fun activities. It was attended by 25 energetic kids ranging from 7 to 14 years old. Our sponsor managed to convert the usual conference room to a venue where our kids and volunteers can play.
Before the most exciting Easter Egg Hunt, the event started by grouping the kids and volunteers together to get to know each other. After learning each others’ favorites, they had warm up games. First game was the Bring Me – Art Version wherein they had papers and scissors to cut the shape of the object that they need to bring. Everyone came up to their own strategies and they were all so competitive and eager to win. Next game involved blowing of balloons to replicate the balloon size of the leader. Two different groups won on those games.
After the minor games was the most awaited Easter Egg Hunt. The only important instruction was to look for the eggs in the room. The only twist was to get only the color designated to the group. Fortunately, all of them found those eggs without any hassle at all. One of the kids even told us that her motivation was the PRIZE but they had no idea what prize would they get.
Next was their snacks. It was a heavy snack because they had spaghetti, fries and coke from the kids’ favorite – Jollibee. They weren’t allowed to eat in the conference room that’s why they needed to transfer to other floor and they ate all together in SGS Gulf Limited’s pantry. Kids were so amazed because they saw all other SGS employees in their work areas.
After eating, our sponsor distributed the school supplies. The kids were thankful and acknowledges the value of appreciating things. On the other side, admittedly, our sponsors were happy whenever they receive their monthly salaries but they felt a different happiness when they saw genuine smiles from our kids. This is another proof that we really can’t put a price on the value of charity work.
