87 Scholar Kids Donation 5 with Balara Elementary School

Written by Kuya Harvard

It was the last installment of the 6 month program of Scholar Kids. A project in partnership with Zonta Metro Ortigas Foundation. Truly a successful partnership with the mothers and students experiencing a memorable event in their lives as well, says Kuya Harvard.

Scholar Kids had launching last October 2010. The program was launched with strict parameters of increasing grades, monitoring of stipend and partnership of the mothers in the studies of their child. If any of these things are not met, stipend will be suspended. 90-95% of the 90 students were able to get all 5 stipends worth 2,000 pesos.

Two milestones happened during the 6 months. We also had the 2nd donation coincide with Kids Christmas Stories 3 last December. We had a showcase of talents from 6 different sections represented by the scholars. We also a magic show and game booths for the students enjoyment.

We also had a livelihood project with the Mothers last February to provide additional opportunities to them. We had fish making/ processing which showcased 6 ways to prepare different kinds of fish. We added points on health and family values as well for the mothers! 🙂

Another livelihood is set for the mothers next month. We believe in partnership of mothers in the child’s future, says Baby Doble, former president of Zonta Club of Metro Ortigas Foundation.

One of the students in donation 5 shared a testimony. She said that she will continue to study hard so that she can be of help to her family. That line said it all. Our goal was to inspire better performance. And I think it was achieved.
