54 Real Kids with Real Life Foundation

Written by Kuya Harvard

After Plant Kids, U! Happy Events kicks off with Kids Month: November starting with Real Kids. The beneficiary for this event was Real Life Foundation of Victory. It was held in their Pasig Church last November 7 from 9-12nn.

Real LIFE Foundation is passionate about providing a better future for underprivileged Filipinos by giving them access to a good education and transforming their communities through community service.

The kids that we met and had fun with are from Real LIFE’s weekly feeding program. These are 120 4-10 year old Kids from nearby Barangay Kapasigan. The primary goal here is to solve malnourishment and reach out to the community.

Real Kids featured small group setting. It went well- every group had 2-3 ate or kuya with 6 kids. They did everything together, from start to finish of the program. A sure fire way to create interaction and bonding.

Registration and orientation started minutes before 9AM. We met with Ella Guevarra first, winner of Starstruck of GMA. She was suppose to sings for the Kids but had an emergency trip that morning. We discussed some rules and schedules for the day. We had so much in store for everyone.

First agenda was get to know. We encourage the small groups to familiarize with each one. Get to know more than their names! Right after was the main program- Art Workshop. This was lead by the group SIKAT. They do art and crafts programs to raise funds for kids and the community.

After the short lecture of Mr. Pol Mesina, everyone started with their mural about how to protect the environment. The theme was important to the Kids. We wanted them to put at heart and understand more the relevance of previous calamity to the environment. The top 3 winners will be announced later on. Before the meals, we had Red Cross Youth lead us with Origami- the art of folding paper. Everyone- even the kids and organizers had the chance to make a bird. It was not easy!

Feeding followed. The food was menudo. We chose that for it was a complete pinoy meal- meat and vegetables. Nourishment was key for this event as well. Kuya Bumpy was next. He was our Ventriloquist. He also shared God thru his puppet enzo- the cousin of elmo.

The most anticipated part kicked in after that- Magic Show. Board Member and Magic Man Kuya JB showed new tricks to the delight of the Kids and our 65 Volunteers. Kid’s performance is most relevant for our Ate and Kuya. The scholars of Real Life Foundation lead the Kids in singing and dancing of praise songs. Everyone eventually joined in.

The last part was Picture Taking. The Kids exited after they got gifts from sponsors. The volunteers stayed to hear more about Real Life & U! Happy Events. Thank U! once again to all those who came. Our 1st event for Kids Month went well. This event surely marked a part of the Kids’ lives. See U! at Kids Hope!
