Matthew is one of our very active volunteers last 2011. Because of this, he was elected as part of the board just 18 months after. He also helps the team do graphics and articles for the website. Here is a bit of his story on why he volunteers.

My passion for volunteering began in college. It was then when someone influenced a shift in my interest from performing arts to the path of responsibilities – leadership. I pursued a degree in architecture in college. Busy as I was, I took on leadership roles. My passion for sincere service became stronger and it led me to even more volunteer work.

Through leadership, I became exposed to our country’s social issues and aware of my role as a citizen. I consider volunteerism as my venue for making a difference in the lives of people. It is not just an act of total sacrifice; it is a tool to change the current, and a path of transformation where one can be changed from being an ordinary individual into a great being.

I may not be financially rich, but that does not hinder me from volunteering. With whatever resources I have, I am still able to create change in the lives of people.
