113 Magical Christmas

Written by Kuya Harvard

Magical Christmas started with a text from Ate Gigi of Operation Blessing. “We heard about your team and what you guys are doing, we would like to partner with you”. After 2 meetings, our group and theirs agreed to have a big Christmas event together. AFP came about 2 weeks after and it was all set.

Kuya Harvard wanted to reach bigger heights and aimed to reach out to 1,000 kids mostly kids of injured Armed Forces of the Philippines soldiers. He agreed as these kids are neglected and not being reached out to especially during Christmas time.

December 17 7AM and things started to come together. Many kids are expected with their guardians. Volunteers started to put together logistics. All in all we may not have reached the numbers as we got approximately 550 kids and 120 volunteers on site! Plus the guardians, military personnel and organizing team. There were around 800 people that day. That was still a lot.

We had lots of shows and activities from dancing, singing, acrobats, sound effects show, kids talents and of course 2 magic performances to firm up our goal of Magic this Christmas. “We believe that magic will happen this time of the year and we want to start it with these kids”, says Ate Te, vice president of U! Happy Events.

We would like to thank our sponsors and volunteers for this wonderful event. More power to you as you partner with us in providing better opportunities to kids and their families. 🙂
