885 Kuya Anton Celebrates with Children’s Joy Foundation Year 3

Written by Vice President for External, Kuya Glenn Costales
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of meeting and serving with sponsors who exude a similar yearning to share time, talents and treasures with children. Kuya Anton is one of those sponsors. Together with his brother Jad and more than a few enthusiastic friends, they put together a very entertaining day for the kids of Children’s Joy Foundation Inc. (CJFI).
CJFI provides temporary care to marginalized children and supports them by providing educational assistance and spiritual guidance. Kuya Anton and his friends are certainly no strangers to this Quezon City-based foundation as they were returning-sponsors for our Sunday-morning gathering.
A total of 25 kids gathered with 10 volunteers to form five (5) different groups. They got introduced to one another and soon prepared themselves for the pair of games ahead. The first one was the Pass the Charades game which is one of our more popular games. This game was simply like Pass the Message – Charades style.
The next game we played was one of our new ones – Paper Clip Math. In this game, each team member was given 1 paper clip. We then gave out a question – a trivia or an equation – answerable by numbers. The team members had to stand up and join the number of paper clips corresponding to their answer. But the catch is, they had to do it using only one hand. After several questions, it was Kuya Anton’s team that stood out and won the game.
A series of entertaining shows followed for our very fervent kids and volunteers. The first one was Ate Divine’s astonishing balloon twisting where she made flowers, monkeys and even heart-shaped selfie sticks for the kids. Next up was a stunning display of balance and mid-air dexterity by The Amazing Dad’s Acrobats. Last but not the least was a glittering and engaging act by Kuya Alan with his bubble show.
After the wonderful performances, the volunteers and kids sat down for lunch. Kuya Anton and his friends also gave out some home-made cupcakes to the kids for them to enjoy and complete their luscious meal. The CJFI kids returned the favor by doing a pair of song and dance numbers for our spirited volunteers.
It was then on to the gifts the volunteers prepared for the kids. They handed out pillows, baon packs and some more sweet treats as an early Christmas present. With the gifts in tow, they joyfully posed with their kuyas and ates for a final group photo before seeing them off with a thankful embrace.
