800 Kids Olympics 2016 with Gentle Hands

Written by Kuya Harvard
Another Summer Olympic global games is around and it gave us another reason to celebrate and have our version of it. For the third time since 2008 we did Larong Pinoy with children and volunteers. The first one was with Jesus Loves the Little Children held at Rain Forest Park in Pasig. It was followed by Little Lights kids four years ago. Today, Gentle Hands get to experience playing Tumbang Preso, Doctor Quack Quack and Luksong Tinik with their Ates and Kuyas.
This event was also a milestone for a partner organization, Certified Positive. They co-sponsored for their Third Anniversary. The place was packed, almost a 100 souls were gathered for this event that has become a tradition to us. Maybe a more grand one 4 years from now. It will be Tokyo’s turn by 2020.
Before we started the games, we took the time get to know each other. There were big groups and a few more information shared with one another would help them bond even more. One of the questions we asked was what’s their favorite Larong Pinoy.
One of our favorite games at U! Happy Events, In or Out was played first to jump start the excitement. From here the six teams competitiveness just grew. The fun also continued to rise as the 3 Larong Pinoys were played. Among them, our version of Tumbang Preso (using Bowling Pins) was most exciting.
We also had a family come together and brought along a 50 inch pizza for everyone to share. This was on top of spaghetti we have prepared. The food, interesting enough became another bonding moment for all. I guess for Filipinos it is always part of building relationships.
Are you ready for 2020? In the meantime join us on regular events we do. Let us continue to take the time for children.
