35 Ang Gusto Ko Ngayong Pasko with Backstreet Kids

Written by Kuya Harvard

The biggest event of U! Happy Events finally happened last December 13. After 9 weeks of fun and persevering workshops with 45 performers and 2 weeks of Arts and Crafts with 140 Christ Commission Fellowship Back Street Kids (CCF-BSK)… everyone was just in tears. “I am so happy!” says Ate Joana, the head of the Artistic Directors and board member of U! Happy Events. “I just want to go home and rest… with much smile in my face!” adds Ate Joana.

The success of this great project is seen in the pictures. This happened because of the much desire to develop Kids talent and raise finds for their education. “We never expected it to be this great!” according to Kuya Mike, the one responsible for this tie up between the two organizations.

The day started early at 8AM at Nueve de Pebrero Elementary School. It was pick up time for the performers. A carpool was created for this mission. Next stop was a trip to St. Paul University QC… the location of the Musical and Arts.

Performance time was 2PM… what happened in between were two quick eat-outs, gofers running for last minute materials needed, artistic directors doing their practice and bonding with their respective teams, props set-up by Ate Jam, costumes and make-up, technical, arts and crafts set-up, and final run before they face the audience. The extensive preparations reflect the difficulty of this Happy Event… that is why we are so Happy.

The set and costumes was just amazing! 🙂

Together with Ate Joana, Ate Te, an avid volunteer partner and board member of U! Happy Events as well, tandem for much lively pair of host. They introduced Kuya Roli, head of the CCF-BSK ministry for his opening remarks.

There were the dancers with 3 top notch performance. The choir with 3 full of life songs. The mimes with the very impressive hand rendition. The actors headed by its star Linda, her parents, the very kikay saleslady, Jomar and the Toys- Captain Barbel, Darna, Super Inggo and the favourite, Pong Pagong! =)

The one hour Musical ended with a bang. Kuya Harvard simply said… “If you want Change, start it wirh U!” After that, go for Kids, support them and sooner and later, we will have a better Nation!”

We Thank U! for many people who were part of this. It was long but very rewarding. There were 15 volunteers of CCF-BSK and 10 from U! Happy Events. These magic team made it happen! Ang Galeng.

Join us for more projects as we build future together! 🙂
