119 Kick It Right with Street Soccer Philippines

Written by Kuya Harvard

Kick It Right was our first major event for 2012. The name and the theme was fitting as we wanted to jump start the year right. Street soccer being an upcoming sport was well received by volunteers. Ates and Kuyas went as early as 8AM to ready themselves for a half day of activities with their partnered kids.

This is an event for 100 Kids managed by Street Soccer Philippines. They were 5 teams who participated: Payatas Pasaway Street Soccer Team (Jumper Boys) – (QC), Batasan Hills Street Soccer Team – (QC), Cubao Kalakalz Street Soccer Team – (QC), Jeepney Calle Cuatro Street Soccer Team – (Cainta) and Journey For Hope FC – (Cainta).

As they excel, they graduate to the homeless world cup program. These players then get to compete around the world. 8 of the players in the program were present to coach and guide the kids and volunteers for their street soccer match up.

As we understand street soccer, we are hoping more will support their current program as they need to fund sports equipment- shoes and attire. Other funds will help them continue and train kids.

Besides the games, we also had puppet show, magic show and dance. Dance was a hit as everyone did their own thing from 2 steps from Kuya Benj, Ate Raquel and Kuya Red. 
