I’m fond of teaching even before that’s why I had no qualms in doing it. I never knew I’ll stumble upon it sooner when I met Kuya Harvard, founder of U! Happy Events. He invited me last year to join an art workshop. I agreed because I have been actively teaching kids in our kids ministry in Victory Fort so I thought it is an opportunity for me to learn more about kids.
My most memorable experience in U! Happy Events was during a kite flying in Marikina with kids of Shepherd of the Hills. It was memorable because the kid I was partnered with had the same name as mine. I had a fantastic experience creating and flying a kite with her.
What I like about Volunteerism is that it’s not just about assisting but it enables you to have the power to impart knowledge to them. You are given an opportunity for a short moment to make a difference. Few people see the opportunity of mentoring on kids, who are the future of our community. Also, Volunteerism enables you to learn from kids. It teaches you how to be patient, to impart in a basic aspect, to laugh like a you mean it, and to appreciate God’s wonder in smaller scales. God said that we should train a child in the way he should go, so that when he is old he will not turn away from it ( Proverbs 22:6).
