662 Happy Little Hands Christmas Outreach with Reach Center

Written by Board Member, Matthew Chua
U! Happy events partnered with Happy Little Hands for the second time in reaching out to kids residing outside of Metro Manila. It was December 11, 2015 when our team – composed of representatives of both organizations – went all the way to Cebu to deliver donations (toys, slippers, and food) and to spread love to kids with autism under the care of Reach Center.
Reach Center is an institution that provides the needs of children with autism by means of giving them holistic and functional education and skills training. It is a brainchild of Parent’s Reach Foundation, Inc., which was founded on year 2000 by a group of six (6) parents of children with autism and some professionals.
Our team, though exhausted due to their late night flight and lack of sleep, were energetic and enthusiastic all throughout the visit. This was caused by the center’s overwhelming hospitality and overflowing atmosphere of happiness. our team bonded with students and teachers of Reach Center by means of exploring and learning the entire curriculum and activities being done in a routinely manner. The highlight of the day was when teachers, students, and parents presented their dance number to our team.
It was a very memorable experience for our team considering the amount of distance and effort they’ve exerted just to deliver donations and to spread love and happiness. In return, our team brought back with them new learnings and insights, which they may use as tools in their one-of-a-kind journey called “volunteerism”.
