257 Ate Karen’s Guitar and Beat Box Workshop with SOS Children’s Village

Written by Sponsor, Karen Faye Bathan

Last December 1, I spent a fun-filled Sunday with 32 kids of SOS Village in Ayala Alabang, together with friends, volunteers and the U! core team. I have joined several U! Happy Events in the past years, but I always wanted to create my own event so that I can reach out to more kids and be able to share more. Thanks to Kuya Harvard for giving me the chance to partner with U! and be able to experience a unique, exciting and meaningful post-birthday celebration.

It is a day full of music, camaraderie and fun. Guitar and Beat-a-box lessons were given to the kids and the volunteers. Another guy also volunteered to play the violin during the workshop. It would make anyone happy just watching these kids bond, learn and enjoy through music. There were games too which the kids and their respective Ate’s and Kuya’s surely enjoyed. There were volunteers as well from SOFA. It’s actually great to meet new friends who you share same interests with, and who also intend to inspire others and make a difference.

Thanks to Kuya Harvard, Ate Weng and the rest of the U! core team for making this happy event possible. We all had a great time and I will definitely partner again with U! next year.
